Second Place

Oct 26

Posted: under Entertainment, Sports.

My fantasy football team is currently in second and only a handful of points away from being in first place. This weekend my team fared very well. I had a couple of players injured but replaced them and didn’t lose much ground. I would really like to overtake first place next week and this is the time of the year that the teams have to compensate for injuries and poor coaching decisions with major adjustments. So every game outcome this week will be a crapshoot for picking winners. Of course, I have some good picks in mind and we’ll just have to wait and see if they pay off.

Cell Phone Issues

Oct 24

Posted: under Digital, Life.

MY cell phone keeps cutting itself off. It just all of a sudden decides to turn itself off, whether the battery is low or fully charged, whether I’m talking on it or sleeping, there’s no pattern to it at all. It’s only a year old and I didn’t buy the cell phone insurance. The phone didn’t cost that much in the first place and I keep hearing stories about how the insurance is a rip off. A girl I know used to work for the company who handles the phone insurance and even she told me that it’s a rip off. You don’t even get a new phone when you use the insurance – they send you a refurbished one.

I want to get a different phone anyway. I don’t like the feel of this one – it’s too long to fit in the standard phone holsters and covers, and the display doesn’t show the day and date is large enough letters to see without holding it it 2 inches from your nose.

Sangria

Oct 21

Had lunch at a local Mexican restaurant and on a whim we decided to order a pitcher of Sangria to share with the folks at our table. The wine used was a very tart red. It was not a very good Sangria recipe. That’s a shame, because if you use a good sweet wine and the right recipe, Sangria is a very sociable drink – even for people who don’t normally like wine. I had high hopes since it was a Mexican restaurant that the Sangria would be good. Bummer.

ISO Good Spades Partner

Oct 17

I’m searching for a good regular Spades partner. I’d like to find a young woman to partner with, but she has to be very competitive and completely understand the game strategy. A good partner can read your leads and adapt the game play for the good of the team.

I only play online spades occasionally because it is too frustrating to lose a game when you have an inferior partner. But the only way to find a good one is to play a few games and see if your styles click. So far, I’m still playing solo.

Weekend of Upsets

Oct 12

Posted: under Entertainment, Sports.

Well this weekend was the end of Vandy’s winning streak. It was also the extension of UT’s losing streak.

Hated to see Texas beat Oklahoma. The only salvation for my team picks and favs was that OSU beat Missouri.

That’s about all I care about in college ball.

Tennessee playing Pittsburgh today. Wonder if the Titans can keep their winning streak going. I’m not betting on that but I really would love to see Collins pull off one more win before Vince Young comes back and ruins the season for them.

Taylor had surgery and the doctors say he is OK to play today, so the Redskins have a good chance of winning their game against the Rams. They have a couple other key players out for injuries, but St. Louis is the worst team in the League, so if they lose it will have to be for a very bizarre reason on the field today.
